Covid: The risk of stillbirth and premature birth during pregnancy can be high

A large UK study found that having coronavirus at birth can increase the risk of stillbirth and premature birth - although the overall risk is lower.

Scientists say most pregnancies are not affected, but their findings should encourage pregnant women to get a job as soon as they qualify.

Most are vaccinated when they are brought into the age group.

The study is published in the American Journal of Prosthetics and Gynecology.

The study, led by the National Maternity and Perinatal Audit, looked at data involving more than 340,000 women born in England between May 2020 and January 2021.
